All registered MODO 801 users will now find Service Pack 3 (SP3) available on the My Products page of their Foundry account. 801 SP3 contains almost 100 bug fixes and improvements, improving stability and correctness. In addition, SP3 adds the following features - Alembic I/O has been updated to support point cloud import and export, and streaming of static and variable-polygon-count meshes and curves. Adds a 45-degree rotation constraint when using Mesh Paint in Drop mode, by using the shift-key modifier. Adds a 90-degree Y Rotations channel to allow rotation snapping in 90 degree increments for Replicators.

The following list is a review of changes and corrections included in MODO 801 SP3.

Action Centers: Fixes bug where action centers were not respecting deformation space.

Alembic I/O: Adds support for variable polygon count streaming meshes.

Alembic I/O: Adds support for point cloud import/export.

Audio Waveform display: Fixes bug where use of the Audio Waveform display would cause tool handles to fail to redraw after scrubbing the timeline.

Channel Modifiers: Fixes bug where Channel Modifier links to selected items would prevent constraint and other modifiers from being unlinked or relinked to other items.

Configs: Adds the NEXUS_LOGS environment variable to allow users to redirect the location of various logs (commandLog.txt, netLog.txt, slaveLog.txt & masterLog.txt) independently of the NEXUS_PREFS variable.

Deformations: Fixes a potential crash when a deformation folder is opened.

Drag Weld: Fixes a potential crash using the Drag Weld tool with multiple active meshes.

Dynamics: Fixes a potential crash playing a simulation that has a hinge constraint attached to a soft body.

Dynamics: Fixes a potential crash when -1 is set as the number of dynamic clusters.

Dynamics: Fixes a potential crash when decomposing convex meshes for simulation.

EXR I/O: Fixes bug where EXR exports would not be saved using user settings in Preferences.

EXR I/O: Fixes a potential crash if a RIPMAP EXR file is used as an image map.

FBX I/O: Fixes bug where exporting to FBX could cause a previously unselected action to be selected.

GL: Fixes item selection highlighting in Shaded mode with Independent Draw enabled.

GL: Improves performance in Reflection, Gooch, and Cel shading modes.

GL: Removes specular highlight and lightens the Gooch shader.

Groups: Fixes an unreported bug with the 'layer.toScene' command when groups contain items.

Item Duplication: Fixes bug where duplicating or instancing hierarchies with channel modifiers could lead to instability or incorrect duplication.

Julienne tool: Fixes bugs with the Julienne tool, where it was not using all cutting planes, the max cutting planes setting was not working correctly, cutting plane preview drawing was erratic, and the cutting planes did not align to the linear generator's planes.

Localization: Fixes bug where pre-801 scenes with certain localized strings would fail to load due to a UTF-8 conversion error.

Locators: Fixed a potential crash with pivot points on locators.

Mesh Paint: Adds 45 degree rotation constraint when using Mesh Paint in Drop mode, using the shift-key modifier.

Motion Blur: Adds a check for motion blur to be enabled in preview when its checked on in camera.

Motion Blur: Motion blur will now preview correctly when enabled in Preview before being enabled on the Camera.

Parent in Place: Fixes bug where unparenting in place did not work in some cases.

Parenting: Fixes a potential crash when an edit action gets parented to itself.

PDB I/O: Fixes a potential crash in loading certain PDB files.

Presets: Fixes a bug with material layering for some presets.

Preview: Fixes problem with updating mesh proxy vertex velocity feature and when enabling/disabling motion blur in camera effects when Preview is open.

Preview: Only image maps are opened in Image Preview when double-clicked in the Shader Tree.

Preview: Properly displays motion blur updates when changes are made to the motion blur length or offset.

Process Shader: Fixes usage of Hue on red colors.

Python API: Fixes bug where using ILxScene.Import() would create duplicates of certain scene items.

Python API: Fixes a potential crash using lx.object.Scene.RenderCameraIndex command.

Referencing: References will now display properly when changing material mask names.

Referencing: Windows: Fixes bug where references would not render if imported while in item mode.

Render Window: Fixes formatting of Render Window zoom button in Japanese localized Modo.

Rendering: Environments are now visible in all render outputs within different folder structures.

Rendering: Fixes memory leak when rendering Catmull-Clark SubDs with adaptive subdivision enabled.
