The RealFlow RenderKit, or just RFRK, is a set of tools to facilitate the task of rendering fluids. The RFRK's main purpose is the creation of meshes directly at render time without exporting them to disk. Other tools help you to render particles effectively, add displacement maps to ocean surfaces, and visualize volumetric data from OpenVDB files. In contrast to the connectivity plugins, the RFRK does not support the import/export of geometry data, meshes, or cameras. RFRK is free and available to everyone!
After 10 months of hard work in fixing dev issues and sorting out website hell, Godot is back and has put out their first stable release. Lots of good stuff going on with community contributions, lively discussions on forums/IRC/FB, and documentation/demos/tutorials are now out there for users and soon a public wiki as well. We are happy these guys are back, because not only is Godot opensource, but it's just a bunch of guys (2) and the participation from the community that is making this happen... which is most of the time not an ongoing, easy thing to maintain.
Short video showing some creative uses for particle painting on characters, such as reproducing natural effects like wear, weathering, leaks and much more using physical-based simulations.
Last week, the first preparations for the next Krita release started with the creation of the first Krita 2.9 beta release: Krita 2.9 Beta 1. The Krita dev team has stopped adding new features to the codebase, and are now focusing on making Krita 2.9 as stable as possible. See the list of new features after the break!
V-Ray 3.0 for 3ds Max Service Pack 1 is now available for download. V-Ray RT GPU now supports hair and fur, subsurface scattering and light cache. In addition, we’ve added support for Microfacet GTR / GGX BRDF, which is ideal for hard surfaces such as metal.
RandomControl has released ArionFX for Photoshop v3.0.3, which is a Point Release build with some basic clean-ups that catches up with the latest version of our RCSDK. The new build fixes a little problem that there used to be in the Film grain filter. As reported by some users, every now and then a speckle was showing up. The problem, which is gone now, was caused by an occasional overflow in one of the formulas involved in Film grain.
