Bamboo Stylus Duo

Published:  April 11, 2012    Category:  2D Graphics, Hardware, Mobile,    Published by:  GriT
Wacom has announced a 'new' stylus for the iPad. They have the existing Bamboo stylus (Bamboo Stylus Solo) which goes for ten bucks less than this new one - the Bamboo Stylus Duo, which comes with a pen at the other end. Just don't go scratching up your iPad screen cause you forgot which end you're holding. And anyway, who says you can't just duct-tape on any pen/pencil of choice to the old Bamboo stylus? Just won't look as classy is all... For those interested, the Bamboo Stylus Duo runs at $39.95USD and is available April 24th.

Sprite Something

Published:  April 08, 2012    Category:  2D Graphics, Games, Mobile, Software,    Published by:  GriT
Sprite Something is a drawing, animation and tilemap application for pixel artists and game developers. Draw multiple frames individually, then quickly drag and drop frames into an animation, or use your frames to draw tilemaps for your game levels. Export your creations to PNG, animated GIF's and CSV files (tilemaps). This handy app makes for a great concepting* tool, specially with the ability to quickly see your results as they would appear in the final game preview. (*Yes, it is entirely possible that this word is made up, but you get the point.)

Paper

Published:  April 05, 2012    Category:  2D Graphics, Mobile, Software,    Published by:  GriT
Paper, by FiftyThree, for the iPad is a free app for sketching, doodling, note-taking and what-have-you. The only catch is, that you gotta pay for colours and brushes as additional add-ons...which would make this *free* app in fact, not so free. Compared to apps of similar nature and capabilities, this is likely to be more expensive -- considering what you end up picking up as add-ons, of course. But in the end, it's the user experience and effectiveness as a tool that makes the cost of the thing worthwhile. Check it out for yourself!
