Sunday Flashback #22

Published:  January 19, 2014    Category:  General    Published by:  GriT
Yep you're looking at a Maya hockey jersey because...well, Alias Research was a Canadian company and even after the merger with Wavefront, Alias|wavefront was headquartered in Toronto/Canada and there were just simply a lot of Canadians in the building. So to perpetuate a stereotype, that meant hockey was a big deal. Which in turn meant personalized hockey jerseys!

Solid Angle: Pricing and a Brand Spanking New Website

Published:  January 19, 2014    Category:  3D Graphics, Rendering    Published by:  GriT
Solid Angle develops the Arnold global illumination renderer. They've finally put out a website that represents the calibre of the renderer and gives the complete history into the beginnings of Arnold. It's certainly nice to see where Arnold has been used, especially in the sci-fi film Gravity, which let's be honest...was an amazing movie in all regards. If you haven't seen it yet, just know that the live action and CG elements came together seamlessly.

It was the year 2001 and the all new Trax Non-Linear Motion Compositor for video, film, and games/interactive users came out in Maya 3. It allowed for a new method of non-destructively mixing animation sequences with total control over motion blending. The Trax editor let game users prototype multiple character moves in a game, or animators to quickly modify any aspect of character motion.
