BLUR Studio has unleashed the next Elder Scrolls cinematic trailer to the wild. Even if you don't give two shits about Elder Scrolls, YOU WILL AFTER WATCHING THIS. The incredible incredible talent at Blur Studio is once again defining the gold standard, as they've proven themselves to be top dog of CG VFX work. And yes - we wrote incredible twice.
Cycles is nicely integrated into Blender, but can also be built as a standalone renderer, which Blender developer Thomas Dinges is currently working on. The standalone application can be used for testing purposes but also allows an integration into other 3D programs. The code is still experimental and the application is quite simplistic, but it can already be used and also works with features such as OSL or GPU rendering (if compiled with those features). NOX is a free stand-alone, physically-accurate state-of-an-art renderer. Its engine is based on unbiased methods. Global illumination is evaluated using Path Tracing or Bidirectional Path Tracing. Light behavior is based on laws of physics, however some simplifications occur. Many post-production actions can be done in NOX internally, so no additional software is necessary. NOX works with scenes created and imported from 3ds Max, Blender and Cinema4D.
